Four

Lines of insurance I write about here, and nothing outside them.

How JackyWise Started

Policy pages run long and assume you know the words already. I started JackyWise to explain them.

Nothing here sells a plan. One topic per page, so you can stop when you have it.

What You Can Read About

  • What each policy pays for
  • Terms that show up on quotes
  • Questions worth asking early
  • Where the four lines differ

Notes People Leave After Reading

A person reading through an insurance policy document

I read the home page twice before my renewal came around, and it was the first time the building limit actually made sense. Working out what a rebuild would cost today, instead of what the place sold for, changed the number I asked for.

Liability limits never clicked for me until I found them explained in ordinary words. I had carried the lowest option for years without really knowing what that meant on a bad day. Raised them the same week and stopped second guessing it.

Dario P.

Adding the deductible to a full year of premiums sounds obvious once somebody says it out loud. Doing that on paper flipped which health plan looked cheaper, and I signed up for the one I had written off at first glance.

Sylvie K.

I came in thinking term and whole life were two names for the same thing. Half an hour of reading later I understood why the gap in price is so wide, and I had a short list of questions ready before calling anybody.

Common Questions

Answers Before You Ask

A few things people write in about most, answered the way I would answer them over the phone.

Your reading list gets saved, and that is all. No calls, no details handed to anyone, and nobody waiting to pitch a plan at you.

Not a thing. Each page starts from what a term actually means and builds from there, so you can open any of the four cold.

Line them up on three points: what triggers a payout, what it caps at, and what you pay before it kicks in. Price on its own hides too much.

They stand alone. Home and auto often land on one bill, and health and life both lean on your paperwork, but each page reads by itself.

Write to me. When an answer is missing from a page, that usually means the page needs work, and I would rather hear it than not.
